Hiking with a View: Discover the Canal de Gairaut
Sometimes you don’t have to look far to find the most beautiful hidden gems. Just a stone’s throw away from Villa Soraya lies one of my personal favorite walking routes: the Canal de Gairaut. This historic canal offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city and some of the most spectacular panoramas in the region.
The Scenic Route from Villa Soraya
Starting from our private residence, you can reach the canal in about a thirty-minute walk. I should mention: it is a bit of a climb! The path leads you uphill, but I promise you the effort is more than worth it. Once you reach the top, the terrain levels out, and you are greeted by a wonderfully flat path that follows the gently rippling water of the canal.

Breathtaking Panoramas and Provencal Scents
As you stroll or jog along the canal, you are treated to a breathtaking bird’s-eye view of Nice, the surrounding green hills, and the azure Mediterranean Sea. The trail takes you through groves of ancient olive trees and fragrant fig trees, creating that quintessential Provencal scent.

The Reward: The Cascade de Gairaut
At the end of this picturesque route, you will arrive at the famous Cascade de Gairaut, a majestic 19th-century waterfall. It is a fantastic place to catch your breath and enjoy the cool mist before heading back down to the comfort of your home base.
